The misfortune of being a night owl

At an early age, we’re forced to go to school early in the morning. The society doesn’t seem to give a shit about considering that not all of us are wired to be functioning around that time. Night owls might be seemingly awake at 8 am, but half their brain is still sleeping. Not being able to wake up this early is perceived as lazy – such a shame.

The school forces us to take generic tests that are meant for the average student. It does not take into account our strengths and weaknesses. It does not consider our individual progress in a given subject. Instead, it compares us to the average. As a result, many talented people get into a loop of negative talk – “I’m not good enough.”.

We don’t need average. We need more extraordinary. We need more artists.
